Jan started her career in the British Diplomatic Service serving in New York, Canberra, Budapest and the British Virgin Islands. On returning to London, Jan took a career break to start a family and retrained as an IT professional gaining a BSc and MBA with the Open University.
Having provided 1st line PC hardware and software support and software training for the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, in 1995 Jan joined the the centralized Information Systems Department of the Wellcome Trust as On Line Services Analyst subsequently becoming Team Leader. In the role Jan was responsible for development of the Trust’s first web strategy and the technical project management of a number of system implementations.
In 1999 Jan was headhunted to join Clifford Chance prior to its three-way international merger to become Communications Manager for the global team reaponsible for systems integration. Jan headed a small team responsible for Technology Communications and Education within World Firm Technology overseeing a change management programme to ensure that the 500 worldwide technology teams changed from being independent units to a world-firm team sharing common systems, standards and culture. |
