Karsten GAREIS

Short CV

            Karsten Gareis is project manager and senior researcher at empirica, Bonn. His main fields of interest are the way Information Society Technologies impact on work organisation and on societal structures. He has joined empirica as a researcher and consultant in 1990 and since then has worked extensively on conceptualising, preparing, overseeing and analysing European surveys of the general population and decision-makers, focusing on Information Society phenomena such as multi-locational work, eLearning, eBusiness and co-operation using ICT networks. He was responsible for survey-based research on eLearning and lifelong learning in the European eUSER project, which was completed in April this year. He coordinated the BISER project in FP5 and is currently project manager of TRANSFORM, a Specific Support Action in FP6, which looks into transformational use of ICTs in EU regions and its relation to regional innovation cultures, economic performance and social cohesion.
