eris@ - European Regional Information Society Association |
|
Our focus is to provide support for the economic and social development of our member regions through the tools of the information society – information and communications technologies (ICTs). These technologies can achieve a paradigm shift for regional development. ICTs offer the opportunity for regions to catch up with their richer counterparts whilst regions that are advanced in terms of ICT adoption can compete globally with the best-in-class.
We at eris@ are committed to helping members to exploit the potential of ICT to achieve these goals. In particular, eris@ stresses the importance of innovation and the critical role that ICT plays in the innovation process. It is often very challenging for regions to go it alone. Cooperation, collaboration and networking are vital aspects of working in the knowledge-based economy and play a critical part in developing Learning Regions. eris@ exploits the tools of the information age to enable its members to share their experiences and approaches helping them to accelerate their development with less risk and at lower cost.
At our stand we will have at participants’ disposal hard copies of the last publications produced by eris@ in the frame of several EU-funded projects, eris@’s brochure & many other surprises. You cannot miss it! |

|
The European Broadband Portal is a follow up action of the European Commission resulting from the Bridging the Broadband Gap Conference (14-15 May 2007, Brussels) which concluded that there was a need to support public authorities in areas under-served by broadband to improve supply and conditions of supply.
The project seeks to create a coherent on-line community of relevant stakeholders, providing them with the tools for effective sharing of experiences and good practices and a participatory environment for seeking common and shared solutions.
The portal will be launched on the 12th of June 2008 in the frame of the eris@ Annual Conference.
The participants will have the opportunity to get first hand information on how to promote their projects, technological solutions, etc through the portal. |

TRANSFORM "Benchmarking and Fostering Transformative use of ICT in EU Regions" |
|
TRANSFORM is an EU Framework Programme 6 project that looks into ways in which European regions can achieve transformative change by fully exploiting the potential of ICT. The project explored the influence of differences in 'regional innovation culture' on the degree to which ICT are used effectively, and developed indicators for better measuring uses of ICT which make a real difference to the prospects of regions.
The TRANSFORM project stand will be the privileged stage for conference delegates to get in touch with the project team, to obtain insight into project outcomes and to collect dissemination materials that synthesize its key objectives and outcomes.
The stand will also provide copies of recent publications from related projects such as the European eBusiness W@tch. |
